@Chris D mind tagging me too?
Hmm I didn't get anything.
I did allow browser notifications when Firefox asked for it.
Then I tagged you.
Then I closed the XenResources tab.
Shouldn't I have received a notification?
The only thing I can see are the alerts in the usual "Alerts" top nav place.
Ah, no. It will only work if the browser tab is open.
This is the somewhat older, more primitive desktop notifications system which sadly only works if the browser tab is still open.
Let's try again.
Tag me again I have the tab open.
(PS. How does the modern notification system work when tab is closed? Would that be feasible to be implemented in the future?)
That kind of thing is likely a way off, yet. It's quite new. Sites like Facebook are beginning to use it. I'm not even sure if it's available for Facebook yet.
It's possible for the future but as it's quite new it might take some time. I haven't actually looked into it properly yet.
The notification was awesome. I was in another tab and the notification popped up.
But no question about it, it would be a huge improvement if they worked when the tab was closed. Hopefully that becomes mainstream soon enough.
Well, even without, this is still a good feature, for sites that you regularly have open in your tabs.
Thanks for this
testing this against myself. @ManagerJosh
