Thoughts on using for wallpaper gallery?

Hey, I was curious if this would be something I could use for a wallpaper gallery? Does it support bulk uploads? My initial thought was to use the Resource Manager for that purpose, but issues like user avatar as preview have left me waiting for a different solution.

I agree, I think it would be a great wallpaper gallery. My question now is how I could start rolling that out now as to not conflict with the upcoming User Galleries. I run an iPhone, iPad site, so I could definitely see users working on their galleries. My initial thinking was to rename 'media' to wallpapers and set up categories. Now I'm not so sure that's the right move, considering the limitations.

Great idea. We have some wallpapers we created last year, and would be great to upload them to the XMG on my site.

Is there any way for a particular user (such as an admin) to be excluded from the size/upload limits? Obviously wouldn't want the images resized in this case.

Would I have to remove the limits to upload them and then reset them afterwards?

It would be nice to be able to allow certain groups specified limits. I had to move my site over to my 1TB server to make sure that there would be enough room since I wanted to upload larger wallpapers and have to set it up to allow everyone the higher amount. When the user galleries are done, this will become even more important (as well as limiting the total amount of space per user).

Ideally the user galleries would be able to have a different route than the "media" gallery. That would be ideal in that you could have your "wallpapers" gallery that is system wide that would show /wallpapers in the address and then /albums in the user galleries. I've currently got it set up as /wallpapers at my Apple forum (and don't plan on allowing users to have individual galleries).

That's not how it will work.

Everything will remain with the "media" route prefix.

The media home page will show an overview of all media you have access to view (That can be media from categories, media from public albums, media from your own private albums, media from albums that have been shared with you).

An item of media in an album has exactly the same URL format as an item of media in a category, e.g.

Your own albums are available from:

An album itself will have a URL such as:

Category pages will continue to have URLs such as:
